Selectmen's Minutes 10/14/08
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2008 at 7:35 p.m.

Action Items

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, approve the minutes of the September 23, 2008 meeting.
Abstain – David Walsh

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, approve the minutes of the September 30, 2008 meeting.
Abstain – Peter Hamilton

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Dianne Warkel of Kiwanis for use of the Common on December 4th and December 6th for the Lighting of the Common and Christmas on the Common.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, pass over the request of Marilyn Thompson, Treasurer/Collector to adopt an investment policy for the Town, pending further investigation.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Bob DiFazio of Kiwanis for use of the Town Hall lawn to sell Christmas trees from 11/23/08 to 12/20/08.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of the E.B. Arts Council to reappoint Norma Callahan to the Arts Council effective immediately through June 30, 2011.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Marcia Weidenfeller, Town Clerk, to allow her to sell the Town’s old voting booths.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the signing of a contract with Meserve Electric Inc. for maintenance of the flashing lights at the intersection of North Central Street and West Union Street for the period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, approve the request of Manny Leite, Library Director, to enter into a contract with SAILS for the period ending June 30, 2009.

Town Administrator Report

Updates on the light assessment of the school in Town.

Reminders

Last day to register to vote for the Presidential election –Wednesday, October 15th
Town Clerk’s office will be open on that day from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Any
questions concerning registering to vote or absentee voting should be directed
to the Town Clerk at 508 378-1606.

The Friends of the East Bridgewater Library Book Sale – Saturday, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 – Library community room.

Board Health/Partner Home Care Flu Clinic – Saturday, November 1, 2008 – 9:00
a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – East Bridgewater High School.  For further information please
contact the Board of Health office at 508 378-1612.

Mailbag

A letter from Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association announcing our Treasurer/Collector, Marilyn Thompson, by virtue of Certification by the Association has earned the designation of Certified Massachusetts Municipal Treasurer.  A certificate attesting to the fact will be awarded her on December 10th at their Holiday Meeting at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.

The Board offered Ms. Thompson their sincere congratulations for her great achievement.
